Welcome to Tudor Sports!

A partnership of local residents, tennis players, crown green bowls players and the adjoining Royal Sutton Coldfield Community Town Hall Trust secured the long-term tenancy of the site for community sports in 2018. The partnership converted into Tudor Community Sports Trust (Charity No. 1188620) in 2020.

The Trust’s purpose is to provide accessible, affordable and inclusive opportunities for crown green bowls and tennis play by local people with no membership fees required.

Meeting modern needs

The Trust is pursuing grants and investments as well as actively fundraising to restore the bowling green and create three new tennis courts and lighting for year-round pay-as-you-go play. A new pavilion to meet modern needs and on-site parking will add to the renewed facilities on offer.

Restoration and growth

With the benefit of small grants from Sutton Coldfield Town Council, Sports England Emergency (Covid) Grant and the Commonwealth Games Community Fund, repairs to the existing pavilion and site and the restoration of the bowling green have already got underway.

This is just the beginning of the Trust’s commitment to restore this much-loved local facility to its former glory. There is still a lot to do and we aim to secure substantial investment to complete the site’s transformation by 2027/2028 when the Town celebrates its 500 Year Royal Charter.

Crown Green Bowls, whether joining in casual social bowlers or through the Royal British Legion’s League teams, continues each season (March to October annually). Whether a novice or keen bowler already, if you are interested in joining to play for fun in the fresh air, meet new people and learn or improve your bowling skills, please contact the organisers via hello@tudorsportssc.com

To access the tennis courts on a pay-as-you-go basis is going to take a little longer. The Trust is busy organising fundraising events (insert justgiving link) so that we can approach major benefactors and grant funders to secure investment into the remaining big ticket items.
